Relevant Experience

  • Advising Aer Lingus on its ongoing defence of State aid recovery proceedings brought by the Irish Government in the context of the Air Travel Tax (ATT)
  • Advising the Department of Finance and the National Treasury Management Agency on State aid, competition and merger control issues arising from the bank support measures taken by Ireland in response to the financial crisis, including the bank guarantee schemes, the nationalisation of Anglo Irish Bank, bank recapitalisations, bank mergers, the establishment of the National Asset Management Agency (NAMA) and the reorganisation of the Irish banking sector and the restructuring of the banks concerned
  • Advising the Central Bank of Ireland on State aid and competition law issues arising from measures to reorganise the credit union sector in Ireland for financial stability purposes, including advising on High Court applications to merge certain credit unions for financial stability purposes
