Leasing and Tax

The firm has advised on a broad range of matters pertaining to the aviation sector. In particular, setting up leasing platforms in Ireland, acting as Irish legal and tax advisors to Irish lessors and lessees. Advising on domestic and cross border leasing transactions, aviation insurance, contractual and corporate issues, joint ventures. We have advised on the tax and legal aspects of many tax based structures, joint ventures and a range of corporate and contractual structures. The firm has also advised on a broad range of contractual documentation and applicable legislation.

Aviation Finance

Arthur Cox has acted for lenders, borrowers, lessors and other participants in all manner of aircraft, helicopter, aircraft engine and other parts financings. These include club, bilateral and syndicated financings both on a domestic and cross-border basis involving individuals, corporates and partnerships. We are well versed in transactions involving registrations, including in the Cape Town International Registry, purchasing, transfers and mortgages.


Arthur Cox has acted before the High Court, Supreme Court and European Court of Justice on a broad range of litigious aviation related matters. We also have extensive experience in connection with aircraft detention and arrest.


Arthur Cox has advised on a wide range of regulatory matters including the regulations dealing with airport charges, ground handling, and on the ownership of airlines and licensing of aircraft.
