Sarah Faulkner

Hi, I’m Sarah Faulkner, and I’m a partner in the Employment Group at Arthur Cox. The group advises on all aspects of employment and industrial relations law. Broadly, the areas that we advise on could be grouped into transactional support, advisory work, and litigation, and we deal with matters ranging from day-to-day HR issues like drafting employment contracts or policies, right the way up to complex investigations and sometimes highly contentious litigation. The work that I do is really varied. So I deal with clients across a range of sectors, from pharmaceuticals, education, finance, retail, and that involves state bodies, semi-state bodies, private companies, and public companies. I deal with matters across the full employment life cycle, so at the start, looking at matters like drafting contracts of employment, drafting policies, then during the employment relationship, looking at matters like grievance investigations, disciplinary investigations, protected disclosures, and then at the end, dealing with terminations. So that could be just a dismissal or redundancy, and potentially an unfair dismissal complaint, or High Court litigation. In terms of areas of focus going forward, then, pay transparency is huge for our clients. There’s a deadline coming up on that soon, so we’re working closely with clients to make sure that they have their houses in order in advance of the deadline.

And like most other sectors, AI is a major area of focus. So clients are really looking at how AI is integrating with employment law within their businesses. For more information, visit arthurcox.com/employment
