Hello, my name is Sarah McDermott and I’m a partner in the Corporate and M&A Group in Arthur Cox. Our group advises clients on the full spectrum of strategic transactions, on mandates across public and private M&A, equity capital markets, venture capital and growth equity, corporate structuring, governance and advisory work, and more. We collaborate with clients to guide them through every stage of the business lifecycle, and our practice is built on delivering clear, pragmatic, commercially focused guidance on complex issues, with our clients’ business and their objectives as the driving force behind our advice.

While I have a broad practice, I have a particular focus on public and private M&A, joint ventures and investments, corporate structuring and governance, and securities advisory work. I have extensive experience advising listed companies, private capital sponsors, and domestic and international corporates on high‑value, complex mandates, including public takeovers, competitive processes, cross‑border transactions and US listings, and I have particular expertise in the retail and food and agri sectors.

The breadth of this experience is only possible as a result of the strength and depth of the technical and sectoral expertise across the firm. This allows us to support clients right from initial structuring through to execution and implementation of truly transformational transactions. Looking ahead, while market volatility and geopolitical uncertainty have certainly had an impact on M&A activity, the interest rate easing and appetite of private capital to deploy dry powder and return capital mean that there is a positive outlook for the year ahead, and we believe there is a strong pipeline of M&A activity.
