ESG Knowledge

In this edition, we highlight a range of legal and regulatory developments shaping Ireland’s sustainability landscape. Ongoing regulatory change and sectoral developments continue to bring both complexity and opportunity as ESG considerations evolve.

We begin with the announcement of the winners of the 2026 Niamh Burke Renewable Energy Bursary, which recognises and supports students pursuing further study in areas relevant to Ireland’s sustainable future.

The newsletter notes the key reforms to the Building Energy Rating (BER) regime, developments in network charging for storage assets, and the EU’s consultation on a proposed framework for rating the sustainability of data centres. We also consider the recent dismissal of the challenge to the Shannon LNG planning permission and share insights on activity in the waste-to-energy sector.

In addition, we feature our role in advising AIB on its €80 million green loan to Lidl Ireland, and our latest horizon scanning across energy, planning, infrastructure and construction, and finance.
