There was a particularly strong field this year for the award, with many deserving students. This year’s winner was Cillín Greene, who graduated from DCU in 2021.
Dr Aisling de Paor, Chair of the BCL programme in DCU, commented: “We have been hugely impressed with him during his time at DCU; he is an exceptionally well rounded student. In addition to his consistent and strong academic performance he was also an elite athlete, maintaining a busy training schedule. He has represented DCU and Ireland in athletics on numerous occasions, most notably at the Tokyo Olympics where he reached the final (on the Mixed Relay 4x400m)! He contributed a great deal to the student body and athletics community within and outside of DCU, as well as in his own local community in Galway.”
