ESG Newsletter: Summer 2025
Welcome to our second ESG newsletter of 2025, providing an overview of recent developments related to ESG topics.
In this edition, we are pleased to announce the awardee of the Niamh Burke Renewable Energy Bursary 2025. We also explore the latest energy policy updates, including Ireland’s offshore auction progress, EU-UK trading arrangements, and grid investment strategies. We take a look at the European Securities and Markets Authority’s (“ESMA“) new report on the integration of sustainability risks in the funds sector, and the recent set of measures adopted by the European Commission to simplify the application of the EU Taxonomy. We recap highlights from the Energy Ireland 2025 conference, where our Head of Energy, Niamh McGovern, shared practical insights on legal readiness for Ireland’s energy transition. We look back at the EU’s “stop the clock” directive, which pauses certain CSRD and CSDDD obligations.
From Belfast, we look at Northern Ireland’s evolving energy strategy and the opportunities it presents on the path to net zero.
