Paul McBride joined Arthur Cox as a Corporate Partner in 2017. He is a former Partner and Head of Office for a top-100 international law firm.

Paul has advised in numerous significant mergers and acquisitions, management buy-outs, venture capital investments and project financings in Northern Ireland. Paul is named as a leading lawyer for corporate/mergers and acquisitions by ‘Chambers UK’, ‘Chambers Europe Guide to the Legal Profession’, and Legal 500. ‘Chambers’ comments that ‘Paul always provides clarity in any legal discussion and is “a super negotiator”’.

  • Advising on the sale by Terra Firma of Phoenix Natural Gas to Hastings’ managed fund Utilities Trust of Australia (“UTA”) and the Royal Bank of Scotland Group Pension Fund
  • Advising one of the North’s oldest family businesses, W&R Barnett on the £67 million acquisition of Tate & Lyle’s former molasses business
  • Advising on the £80m sale of distributed wind assets in Nothern Ireland and Great Britain
  • Advising Liberty Insurance on its entry onto the NI insurance market by the acquisition of Hughes Insurance
  • Advising Phoenix Gas on the unbundling and sale of the NI gas transmission and supply systems
  • Advising I-Squared on the acquisition of Viridian Group
