Expertise

Willie specialises in insolvency and corporate recovery/restructuring, both formal and informal. He has been involved in most of the high profile insolvencies in Ireland in recent years advising insolvency practitioners from the "Big Four" accountancy practices as well as specialist insolvency firms. He advises banks on their rights and options both in formal proceedings and restructuring projects. Willie's practice also involves advising on shareholder disputes and advising directors of companies suffering financial difficulty on their options, duties and potential liabilities. Willie is also involved in the prosecution and defence of claims arising in and independently of his insolvency practice.

Experience

Willie has worked in insolvency and restructuring since 1989 working on cases such as Goodman International, MED Transport Company Limited and Tara TV. More recent assignments include:

• Advising Bank of America in petitioning for the appointment of a provisional liquidator and liquidator to Eurofood IFSC Limited and advising Bank of America on its rights in the liquidation
• Advising International Securities Trading Corporation plc in relation to the petitioning for the appointment of an interim examiner and examiner and the successful examinership process
• Advising Structured Credit Company in relation to the removal of a provisional liquidator, the petitioning for the appointment of an examiner and the successful examinership process
• Advising Barclays on behalf of a group of banks with respect to the Quinn Group of Companies
  
• Advising Deloitte and Touche on the conduct of the receivership of Newcourt Group plc
• Advising PricewaterhouseCoopers on the conduct of the examinership, receivership and liquidation of the Dunne Hotel Group
