Expertise
Niav has extensive experience of all types of construction and engineering projects, advising on both contentious and non-contentious matters. She advises on contractual matters arising on all types of project and is familiar with all standard forms of building and civil engineering contracts and appointments used in Ireland and the UK, and is also experienced in drafting bespoke agreements as well as amendments to standard forms. She advises employers, including public bodies, contractors, engineers and other construction professionals on all aspects of the construction process, from procurement to dispute resolution. Niav has extensive experience of litigation and arbitration (domestic and international) and other alternative means of dispute resolution. She also advises on matters of health and safety, particularly as it affects construction, and has acted successfully on several prosecutions brought by the Health and Safety Authority.
Prior to joining Arthur Cox, Niav worked for two years in the construction and engineering department in the London office of Masons, into which she qualified in 1995. She moved to Ireland in 1997 and helped to develop and grow Masons' Dublin office.
