In response to the growing market for asset covered securities in Europe, Ireland introduced legislation in 2001 specifically to provide for the issue of Asset Covered Securities. The Asset Covered Securities (Amendment) Act, 2007 (the "Amendment Act") amends the Asset Covered Securities Act 20011. These amendments enhance Ireland's position in the highly competitive, innovative covered bond market.
