New UK Corporate Governance Code and changes to the Irish Corporate Governance regime, June 2010

On 28 May, the Financial Reporting Council in the UK announced changes to the Combined Code of Corporate Governance (the “UK Code”). The UK Code will apply to accounting periods beginning on or after 29 June 2010 to all companies (whether incorporated in the UK or elsewhere) with a Premium Listing of equity shares on the London Stock Exchange. The Irish Stock Exchange (“ISE”) has announced that it will carry out consultation before the end of June on the implementation of a revised corporate governance code for Irish listed companies.
