The Markets in Financial Instruments Directive was transposed by statutory instrument (S.I. No. 60 of 2007) on 15th February 2007. The Markets in Financial Instruments and Miscellaneous Provisions Act 2007 (the “Act”) was initiated to implement measures complementary to the Directive requiring primary legislation as well as amendments to various Acts, including the Central Bank Act, 1997, as amended (the “Central Bank Act”).
