Ireland is an internationally recognised centre for leasing that has developed over the last 30 years and has a sophisticated regime both in the context of tax and law. The aviation industry in particular is one which has been encouraged by the Irish authorities and a significant number of major participants in the Aviation Finance market have operations here. In a June 2008 survey into the aviation leasing industry in Ireland carried out on behalf of the Federation of Aerospace Enterprises in Ireland (FAEI) it was estimated that aviation leasing companies in Ireland manage €82.9 billion in assets, equating to almost 3,400 assets.
