Ultan also has extensive experience in debt restructuring and has worked on a number of loan portfolio sales.


  • Acting for Total Produce plc on the financing aspects of its agreement to acquire a 45% stake in Dole Food Company from  Mr. David H. Murdock for €300m
  • Acting for NAMA in its provision of construction/development finance to the NAMA appointed receiver, as borrower, for the redevelopment of the Boland’s Mills site in Dublin
  • Acting for JSC Properties Limited in the refinancing of the Jervis Shopping Centre, Dublin
  • Acting for Five Arrows Direct Lending S.A. (Rothschild) in its financing of the acquisition by management, backed by Sovereign Capital, of Arachas Corporate Brokers Limited
  • Acting for Lloyds Bank plc on the Irish aspects of the financing of the acquisition of DCC plc’s environmental division, DCC Environmental, by Exponent Private Equity
  • Acting for Ulster Bank Ireland DAC in its financing of the acquisition of the Hilton Dublin Airport Hotel
  • Acting for a European credit platform in its raising of a €500m secured subscription facility through an Irish Collective Asset-management Vehicle (ICAV)
  • Acting for Green Property Investment Fund plc in its €750m refinance of Blanchardstown Shopping Centre
  • Acting for a nursing home operator (charity) in connection with construction/development facilities for certain of its nursing homes
  • Acting for various corporates including, but not limited to, Allergan plc, Total Produce plc, Mallinckrodt plc, Valeant Ireland, Accenture plc, and Seagate Technology plc in connection with their financing arrangements
  • Advising various financial institutions on the drafting of their standard loan and security documentation
  • Acting for various lenders and borrowers in the restructuring of their loan and security arrangements and acting for lenders through the enforcement process
