Group Interviews Tips

The interview technique which you use is very much a matter of personal preference. However, what follows are some tips from current trainees in Arthur Cox who have been through the process and would like to make it somewhat less daunting for you by sharing their experience.

Don't be afraid to get involved but remember that you don't need to make a 'killer' comment to impress the partners. Relax and try to be reasonably succinct when making your view known ensuring you are not 'hogging the airwaves'. There will be others who will want to speak and it is courteous to allow them some time to do so.

Maintain good eye contact with those you are speaking to.

There is nothing wrong with an avidly held opinion but try to avoid being offensive to people holding a contrary view to your own.

Finally, try to remember that there are no correct answers. The partners on the other side of the table are people too - try to relax and speak as naturally as you can. Above all, be yourself.
