Getting Started
If you are interested in building your legal career with us, please download or request an application form for our trainee programme here, or pick one up at your careers office or from us at one of our presentations. Please complete the application form and send it in hard copy, together with a covering letter, CV and photograph, to Jane Babb:
Jane Babb
Director of Trainee Programme

With your application form please be sure to include a covering letter, a photograph and your curriculum vitae, which should include:
- results of leaving certificate or equivalent by subject and total points; and
- university results to date by year, subject and overall average (GPA).
From the applications we receive, our Trainee Committee makes an initial selection of candidates, each of whom will be invited to a group interview. We will notify you in early November 2011 whether you have been included in this selection. Hard copy applications, addressed to Jane Babb, must be received by Arthur Cox on or before Friday, 28 October 2011. We look forward to reading your application and we wish you every success.
Meeting Us
Selected candidates will meet with representatives of the Trainee Committee for the first time at a group interview. This involves a meeting of around ten applicants and a general discussion about topics of everyday interest which are introduced by the Committee. Individuals can participate as much or as little as they like.
The group interview allows us to develop a sense of each other. It is not a test of knowledge, nor of how much you say. It simply allows us to meet the person behind the application form and you to meet the people of the firm.
Many myths circulate about our group interview. The best way for you to find out the truth behind the gossip is to meet our trainees at our presentations and grill them about their experience of our interview process: they have each lived to tell the tale!
You Decide
The candidates identified from the group interview process will next be invited to an individual interview.
Candidates invited to attend an individual interview will have the opportunity to meet individually with and get to know representatives of the Firm. It also gives us a chance to get to know you personally. Offers are issued shortly after these interviews.
The choice you face is about more than being a trainee solicitor. It is about building your career. Surf our site. Read the opinions of legal commentators. Talk to people who work with us. Come to our presentations and ask questions. Develop a sense of who we are. Then, you decide.
