Irish Government Publishes General Scheme for a Gambling Control Bill, July 2013

On 15 July 2013, the government finally published the General Scheme for a Gambling Control Bill (the “Heads”). The Heads are the first step towards a Bill which, if enacted, would modernise Ireland’s legislative framework for all types of online and land-based gambling. The Heads are extensive, running to 90 pages, and will undoubtedly evolve over time. Below is a snap-shot of the key implications.
