Intellectual Property

The Practice

Our Team

Our Intellectual Property practice is one of the key focus areas of our Technology & Innovation Group.  The team has a rich level of experience in relation to intellectual property law, copyrights, trade marks and patents, licensing, technology transfer and research and development agreements.  We continue to invest in building our range of skills and resources so as to meet the specialist needs of our clients. Our advisory IP practice includes a full range of trade mark search, clearance, registration and prosecution services.

Our Clients

Our clients range from domestic private companies, whom we counsel in relation to the planning and execution of their intellectual property protection, brand management and commercialisation strategies, to public bodies, such as third level institutions seeking to enter into high value collaborative research projects.  We have extensive experience working on IP matters with global technology and life sciences companies and have a broad client base across the entertainment industry, including film, games, multimedia and music. We have worked with many international clients who have chosen Ireland as an innovation centre from where they can build their research and development capacity and manage their European and worldwide IP portfolios effectively and tax efficiently.

Our advisory and litigation practices extend across the full ambit of intellectual property rights including:

  • Copyright
  • Trade Marks and Passing Off/Unfair Competition
  • Patents
  • Unregistered IP
  • Confidential Information/Trade Secrets
  • IP Litigation
  • Alternative Dispute Resolution
  • Tax Effective IP Structures
  • IP Disputes and Litigation
  • Innovation and Research Collaborations

We work closely with our colleagues in our IP and Technology Disputes group in relation to contentious intellectual property matters and in our Tax and Corporate groups in relation to commercialisation of intellectual property and implementation of cost effective IP structures.
