The Practice

We advise on all aspects of public and administrative law, including judicial review proceedings, proceedings relating to the compatibility of legislation with the Constitution of Ireland and the European Convention on Human Rights, tribunals and commissions of inquiry, local government and planning law issues, rates, and licensing.  Our clients include private entities, governmental departments and agencies, regulatory authorities, and various public bodies. 

We have advised in judicial review proceedings involving, among others:

  • the Central Bank of Ireland,
  • the Child and Family Agency,
  • the Commission for Energy Regulation,
  • the Injuries Board,
  • the Irish Stock Exchange,
  • the Irish Takeover Panel,
  • the Mental Health Commission,
  • the Minister for Finance,
  • the National Treasury Management Agency, and
  • the Revenue Commissioners.

We have also acted for the Minister for Finance in respect of the recent recapitalisation and restructuring of the banking sector in Ireland, and for the Central Bank of Ireland in relation to the restructuring of the credit union sector.

In conjunction with our Public Procurement Group, we advise in relation to challenges to tender and public procurement processes.
