Siobhan is a partner in the Litigation & Dispute Resolution Group and has expertise in a number of specialist areas including intellectual property disputes, financial services litigation, statutory criminal prosecutions, and insurance policy disputes.  She has successfully represented a number of domestic and international clients in cases in these areas.

Siobhan is also a CEDR-accredited mediator.

Practice Areas

  • Advising on multi-jurisdictional litigation in patent infringement and revocation cases including GSK .v. Synthon which is the leading decision on the grant of injunctive relief in intellectual property matters. Siobhan provides advice to inventors, designers and manufacturers of medical devices, healthcare, pharmaceutical, packaging and paper products
  • Representing Ulster Bank Investment Funds Limited in the first appeal brought to the High Court against a decision of the Financial Services Ombudsman
  • Acting for financial institution clients defending litigation claims relating to financial products including bonds and endowment mortgages
  • Acting for the policyholders in one of the leading Irish cases on insurance policy interpretation “Analog Devices –v- Zurich Insurance & Others” which involved a jurisdictional dispute and the application by the Irish court of Massachusetts law to an insurance policy
  • Advising clients following workplace accidents on investigations by the Health and Safety Authority and defending them in prosecutions both summarily and on indictment
  • Representing the Food Safety Authority of Ireland in the first and subsequent prosecutions brought by that body for breaches of food law
  • Advising the National Educational Welfare Board on the first prosecutions of parents for the non-attendance of their children at recognised schools and representing that body in a large number of such prosecutions
  • Acting for the National Employment Rights Authority in prosecutions of employers for breaches of employment legislation and to enforce decisions of the Employment Appeals Tribunal
  • Acting for health professionals in inquiries before regulatory bodies relating to fitness to practice, including the Medical Council and the Dental Council and acting for the CEO of the regulatory body in inquiries before An Bord Altranais
