Pádraig Ó Ríordáin, Managing Partner of Arthur Cox, has been named European Managing Partner of the Year 2009 at awards to recognise the work of law firms throughout Europe organised by The Lawyer magazine.
This is the first year of The Lawyer European Awards and the winners were chosen from among law firms throughout the continent. The judging panel comprised managing partners from around Europe and the awards were announced at a ceremony in Barcelona on 4 November. The winners were chosen from law firms in 25 different jurisdictions.
The citation singled out Mr Ó Ríordáin for his work advising the Irish State on its response to the banking crisis including the bank guarantee scheme, the nationalisation and recapitalisation of Anglo Irish Bank and the establishment of the National Asset Management Agency.
