Arthur Cox is pleased to announce the appointment of leading ETF lawyer Adrian Mulryan as a partner in the law firm. Based in the firm’s London office, he joins its Asset Management and Investment Funds Group from ETF provider Source where he was General Counsel.
Adrian has been embedded in the development of European ETFs since 2006, establishing a number of ETF platforms in Europe including the first active ETFs in Europe and the first China RQFII ETF in Europe. In addition to being responsible for all legal work related to various ETF product launches, European distribution, product maintenance and compliance matters, Adrian was also responsible for listing the first UCITS ETFs on SIX and the first Irish exchange-traded precious metal products.
Most recently Adrian has worked on the creation of ETF share classes for UCITS and launched a ‘40 Act ETF in the US, providing him with a unique global perspective on the growth, innovation and distribution of ETFs.
Before joining Source, Adrian was a Director and Head of Retail Issuance (Legal) at ABN AMRO Bank/RBS, heading a team responsible for the issuance and distribution of retail products across Europe, Asia and the Middle East (including Shari’ah compliant products). His remit also included the operation of a Luxembourg-based exchange-traded fund platform and responsibility for a wide range of regulatory issues.
Commenting on the appointment, Head of the Arthur Cox Asset Management and Investment Funds Group, Kevin Murphy, said: “We are delighted to welcome Adrian to the firm. His extensive experience and strong track record is a great addition to our high calibre team. Adrian’s understanding of cross-border issues related to the marketing and distribution of investment products in Europe, particularly ETFs, will be a noted addition to our client offering.”
