The Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Richard Bruton TD, recently announced a major overhaul of consumer law, including the enactment of a comprehensive Consumer Rights Act, as he launched the report of the Sales Law Review Group today.
The Group, which was established by his Department to make recommendations on reform of law in the area, is Chaired by Robert Clark. Dr Clark is Emeritus Professor of Law, University College Dublin. The Review Group’s report contains over 100 recommendations for changes to the legislation governing the sale of goods and supply of services. Measures are expected to include new laws to ban excessive payment fees and ‘pre-ticked boxes’.
