Arthur Cox has topped the 2011 table of Irish law firms advising on mergers and acquisitions, the fifth time in the past six years that it has done so.
The firm advised on more Irish M&A transactions than any other law firm, measured by both value and volume. The firm advised on 30 such deals worth $23.45 billion during 2011. The value of the M&A transactions it advised upon therefore almost doubled from the $12.13 billion worth advised upon in 2010. The firm’s nearest competitor by number in 2011 advised on 28 deals and its nearest competitor by volume on deals worth $11.075 billion.
This completes a very strong year for Arthur Cox. Last month the firm was named Legal Adviser of the Year for Ireland 2011 at the Financial Times/Mergermarket European M&A Awards. This was the fifth consecutive year that the firm has won this award. Awards are given in recognition of excellence in corporate, private equity, banking and legal M&A expertise.
