I am a corporate associate in one of the Arthur Cox corporate groups and I am involved in a wide range of corporate and commercial work including equity capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, corporate advisory and corporate reorganisation work.
I completed my training in a Magic Circle law firm and subsequently qualified into one of the firm’s corporate and commercial groups where I remained for two and a half years. In 2013, I decided to return to Ireland and to join Arthur Cox. Arthur Cox appealed to me for a number of reasons, in particular it is one of Ireland’s leading law firms and it has a fantastic reputation both at home and abroad.
Not long after joining Arthur Cox, I was fortunate enough to form part of the team advising on the establishment, listing and offering of securities of Green REIT plc, a recently incorporated Irish property investment company. Green REIT plc was the first real estate investment trust (REIT) launched in Ireland and also the first company to seek primary listing on the main market of the Irish Stock Exchange since 2007. I was delighted with the opportunity to be part of this exciting transaction and throughout it I was encouraged to work independently and to use my own initiative all the while being supported and guided by the partners.
Arthur Cox is excellent at supporting the development of its associates through the many initiatives it implements. I am involved in the partner – mentor programme which involves meeting with a senior partner regularly to discuss my career and gain his/her insight, knowledge and experience. I also take part in the Women in the Firm initiative, an initiative which encourages the promotion of women within the firm and includes mentoring. I thoroughly enjoy having the opportunity to participate in these initiatives and value the importance and positive impact these initiatives have not only on the young associates but on the firm as a whole. I believe these programmes are hugely beneficial which is why I also partake as a mentor in the newly qualified associates and interns mentoring initiatives.
The aspect that has impressed me most about Arthur Cox is its culture. There is a fantastic sense of partnership, camaraderie and teamwork across the firm. Colleagues are always friendly, supportive and ready to assist with queries. The work ethic of my colleagues and quality of work in Arthur Cox is superb.
