Gavin is a partner in the Litigation and Dispute Resolution Department. Gavin is an experienced litigator advising clients before the Irish Courts particularly through the Commercial Court, Court of Appeal and Supreme Court. Gavin advises a broad range of clients including Irish and international corporates, financial institutions, property companies, aviation companies, large retailers, third level institutions, statutory bodies and local authorities.
Gavin’s practice has a particular focus advising clients on intellectual property disputes (trademark and copyright infringement and breach of confidential information) working with the firm’s Technology and Innovation team and reputation management issues including data privacy, defamation, brand protection and internet related disputes.
Gavin advises a number of multinational companies and has worked with many law firms in other jurisdictions on a range of multi-jurisdictional disputes including international arbitrations before international arbitral institutions such as the ICC.
Gavin is currently President of Arbitration Ireland which is a unique association comprising members from the leading solicitor firms, the Bar and other bodies and persons actively involved in the practice of international arbitration in Ireland.
Gavin also advises on a broad range of commercial disputes including financial services litigation, commercial fraud and property disputes.
Gavin has spoken at conferences in Ireland, continental Europe and the US on IP litigation, defamation, international arbitration and mediation. He is also a Hong Kong qualified solicitor having worked for a leading law firm there.
Gavin also works with the Public Interest Law Alliance in respect of its Pro Bono Referral Scheme as part of the firm’s Corporate Social Responsibility programme.
