Previously Head of the Corporate Department from 2006 – 2013, Colm deals with a broad range of corporate and commercial work on behalf of international and domestic clients, both public and private companies, in mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and corporate finance matters and provides strategic advice to boards of directors of a number of the firm’s clients.

  • British Telecommunications plc on the US$2.5 billion successful bid for Esat Telecom Group plc
  • Denis O’Brien on the purchase of Siteserv and the Beacon Hospital
  • First Active plc on the sale (by way of a Scheme of Arrangement) to Ulster Bank Limited (a subsidiary of the Royal Bank of Scotland plc) for €887 million
  • Liberty Global Inc. on the acquisition from NTL Inc of NTL Ireland for €325 million
  • Acting for ESB in relation to the €450 million sale of four power stations and two sites
  • Coillte Teoranta on various transaction and strategic matters relating to its business
  • RBS and Ulster Bank Group on the Banking Inquiry and / on various transactions and on strategic issues relating to the Irish business
  • The management in the contested offer for Irish Continental Group plc
  • Topaz Energy on the acquisition of the retail and commercial fuels business of Shell in Ireland and Northern Ireland
  • Unilever plc on the successful bid for Lyons Holdings plc
  • The Anglo American Group on the acquisition and joint venture relating to the Lisheen Zinc Mine
  • Eircom and Radio Telefís Éireann on the disposal for €680 million of Cablelink Limited to NTL
  • Greencore Group plc on the disposal of a number of its subsidiary companies including Erin Foods Limited and Grassland Fertilisers Limited
  • UTV plc on the acquisition of a number of radio stations and on the disposal of its wireless business
  • IWP plc on various disposals and on its take private by SVP Funds
  • An Post (the Irish Post Office) on the €85 million sale of mobile phone top up companies in Spain and the UK
  • The Little Company of Mary Sisters on the sale of Mount Carmel Hospital to Harlequin Healthcare
